Things Thought Today

Warning: Politics post

As I sit here tonight watching election results here are some of the things that I love:

There are some awe-inspiring women in America today. Here are just a few of them: Elizabeth Warren. Claire McCaskill. Tammy Duckworth. Hillary Clinton. Michelle Obama. Carol Shea-Porter and Ann Kuster, currently leading their US House seats against men in New Hampshire. Maggie Hassan, leading her race for governor of New Hampshire. How awesome is that, New Hampshire? I love strong women. That's just the way my parents raised me.

A bunch of male douches are losing their races and I am really heartened to see two in particular go home unhappy, the two guys who made idiotic comments about rape. My dear husband said he supposes that's the whole idea of what Todd Akin was trying to say (ha)...When there is stupid out there, intelligent voters have a way to shut that whole thing down.

I love that so many people are passionate about their choice. I love that people are voting. I love that there is room for different opinions in this country and that people can voice their differences. This truly is an amazing country, no matter what policies, president, or political party you vote for.

This is a new section of the blog. Here, you may find thoughts from me or someone else. The connection of course will be that I have thought about them in some way. To start us off, we go inside a cat's mind:

My cat, Lily, is part Siamese (you may recognize her slightly pointed face and slightly crossed blue eyes). This means two very important things: a. She is the most adorable cat in the world and b. she wants to tell you what is on her mind (i.e. very vocal).

Photo: "Marty, wherefore art thou?" Lily says.

So we have been house-sitting for my in-laws with their dog, Mitch.  This means our poor, unfortunate kitty and guinea pig have been rather lonely. I'm spending the night with them tonight. Marty (a.k.a the Big One) was also missing our furry creatures so I decided to take a few pictures to send to him.

So, what is she thinking in this moment? I think it goes something like this: "You have left me all alone with only the guinea pig to chat with. I don't know if you know this, but all she wants to talk about is how much she likes carrots and bell peppers. Was that someone in the hallway? Is it the Big One? Big One! Come in the door and pet me! I've been so lonely."

And here we have a follow up photo:

Photo: Maybe if I bat my big blue eyes, he will appear?

Of course you can probably figure out what she is thinking here:

"Nope, that wasn't him. Maybe if I bat my pretty blue eyes? Sigh. Let's go cuddle on the couch then."
